Springboard and Degrees Programs

What are Springboard & Degrees?

Degrees is a step-by-step program to guide you through your Jaycee involvement. Each successive degree includes different tasks that provide different learning experiences. By completing the various requirements for each degree (there are 10 degrees), members learn valuable skills and promote chapter objectives.

Springboard is a program for first-year members, where by completing a list of requirements, the new member can advance to degree 3 at the time of their membership renewal.

Why advance in Degrees?

The primary concept in Jaycees is “Leadership Training through Community Service”, where members gain skills by participating in various projects. But how does an individual accomplish this? The Degrees program is one possibility…

By pursing your advancement in the Degrees program, you will get a wide variety of experiences that can provide you with valuable business, professional, and personal skills such as…

  • Project Planning
  • Public Speaking
  • Salesmanship
  • Leadership
  • Project Management

In addition, members participating in Degrees of Jaycees assist their chapter in the pursuit of chapter goals through increased participation. The chapter also gains increased visibility and influence within the community.

How do I participate?

To advance in degrees, all you have to do is A) follow the requirements list for the degree you are pursuing (see the requirements list) and B) record your progress in the Springboard and Degrees binder. This binder is available at all General Membership Meetings (it will usually be in the possession of the Membership VP or Springboard and Degrees program manager). In the binder, every member has his or her own page corresponding to the degree they are pursuing. These forms include a checklist of the tasks to complete for the degree. As you complete each task, record it on the form. Once your form is completed, the Springboard & Degrees program manager will review the form and submit it to the state organization. Once approved, you will be recognized at the next GMM with a certificate for your accomplishment. Here are a few guidelines to observe while advancing…

  • Participants must complete one degree at a time.
  • Participants must attend 50% of GMM’s while attaining each degree.
  • There are no retroactive items.
  • Only degrees completed during the current Junior Chamber year are accepted.
